Sunshine & Showers

Sunshine and showers, 12°, fresh SW.

Lollingdon: 2 Shelduck back on the flooded field, along with the usual Shoveler, Lapwing, Lesser Blackback Gull, Teal and Common Gull.

Morton Floods: c60 Lesser Blackback Gull, c150 Lapwing, 2 Golden Plover, c100 Teal, 3 Chiffchaff, a Cormorant and 4 Wigeon.

Wallingford Rd Floods: c130 Teal, 7 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, c10 Wigeon and 4 Tufted Duck.

Bunk: 2 Chiffchaff incl 1 in song, Yellowhammer and Treecreeper in song, 14 Fieldfare, 10 Redwing, Coot, 6 Tufted Duck.

2 Barn Owl noted this evening. LC & AD.

5 Wigeon on the school pond. RB.  

A Smooth Newt found at the weekend hibernating, Per RD and a Red Admiral on Sunday in the garden.

Hithercroft & Bunk

Sunshine and showers, 14°, breezy SW.

Hithercroft floods: Little Egret, 3 Shelduck over, Common Snipe, Herring Gull, Lesser Blackback Gull, Black-headed Gull, Chiffchaff - many singing, Reed Bunting and Lapwing.

Bunk area: 7 Chiffchaff, several in song, a Blackcap singing, 3 Yellowhammer, 2 Siskin, a Sparrowhawk, 14 Fieldfare, 1 Redwing, 50+ Starling, a Grey Wagtail, 8 Pied Wagtail, 5 Meadow Pipit, 1 Lapwing, 1 Mute Swan, 32 Lesser Blackback Gull, 7 Black-headed Gull, 2 Herring Gull and 1 Common Gull, etc.

Mammals: Short-tailed Vole, Wood Mouse & Brown Hare.

Amphibians: Smooth Newt (per Bill Nicholls, garden pond).

Butterflies: Brimstone, Small Tortoiseshell and Peacock.

Weekend catchup

Cloudy yesterday but Sunny today, max 15°, light W.

"Quite a few" Sedge Warbler found on Cholsey Marsh this morning by Alan.

Cetti’s Warbler, Blackcap and Chiffchaff in song, also present on the Marsh.

A single Siskin flew over the allotments yesterday.

A Short-eared Owl on Cholsey Downs on the 2nd. Per Alan.

A Smooth Newt found by Angie Regan in their garden yesterday and several Grass Snake and Slow-worm in Tony Rayner’s garden.

Butterflies: Brimstone, Small White (TR), Orange Tip (TR), Holly Blue (AD), Small Tortoiseshell and Peacock.
