Final day at Portland

Final day, wet ‘n’ windy, 15.

A non birding day apart from a morning sea watch and departing around midday from Portland Bird Obs.
Land birds were thin on the ground around the Obs but a sea watch produced an Arctic Skua, a Great Skua, a Pomarine Skua, 1 Balearic Shearwater and 1 Sooty Shearwater amongst all the Gannets.

Had a look around the Portland Museum on the way out. A quaint place and housing a nice collection of historical artefacts found on and around Portland. Whilst looking at some of the Jurassic fossils found on Portland a familiar voice sounded and believe it or not it was Gerry Quinn, who is not only a birder but also lives in Cholsey and was primary school headmaster to my kids. Small world!
Fish ‘n’ Chips bought in Easton and consumed in the car park at Ferrybridge whilst watching the Brent Geese and Gulls and feeding the ever present Black-headed Gulls with what we didn’t eat.

Booked in for our spring visit next year...................................!

No wildlife photos today................too wet, but a few others from earlier in the week.
Somewhat wet and muddy underfoot!
