Lollingdon



Sunny, 6º, light SSW.

An afternoon visit to Lollingdon hill proved very soggy underfoot and a bit chillier than previous.

A flock of c100 Fieldfare, 20+ Redwing and 80+ Starling foraging in one of the fields to the south of the hill and 20+ Blackbird on the hill feeding in the hedgerows but little else in evidence.

A few more thrushes on the north side of the hill and a Kingfisher around the pond at the Manor house, also a tit flock nearby with several Goldcrest and a Treecreeper present and the usual Grey Heron patrolling the fields in the area. A couple of Pied Wagtail and Meadow Pipit seen overhead.

A large number of gulls and corvids put up from the flooded fields towards Aston Tirrold by a Peregrine.

A couple of Roe Deer seen.

2 Blackcap regular in Tony Williams garden & at least 10 Lesser Redpoll noted in Tony Rayners garden and also a flock of Siskin regular along Caps Lane, Wallingford road area.

A Starling flock of around 500 birds in Didcot this evening seen going to roost in 3 separate flocks.
