Cooler

Overcast, 15°, light NW.

A Goldcrest singing along the brook by the Millennium Wood and the adult Black-headed Gull foraging around the Rec and the Millennium field again. Unusual to have a BHG around at this time of year in Cholsey!

A Kestrel mobbing a Red Kite nearby after the latter strayed too close to the Kestrels nest site and the Kite successfully seen off!

11 singing Yellowhammer counted today on the walk out to Lollingdon and a couple of Reed Bunting and 3 Corn Bunting on the hill.

And both Great-spotted and Green Woodpecker on the hill.

80+ Swift flew north over the hill in a 1 hour period. Are Swifts still arriving?

A Common Tern seen today by Alan fishing along the river. There are a pair of Common Tern ranging between Benson lock and the 4-Arches (and maybe beyond). Quite possibly breeding somewhere along that area?

Tony Williams has found another site for Reed and Sedge Warbler in the parish with 3 and 5 respectively in song.

Mammals: singles of Brown Hare and Roe Deer.

Butterflies: very few with just 2 Small Tortoiseshell and 2 Speckled Wood.
