May the 4th be with you and the Swifts are here!

Mainly sunny, 17°, light ENE.

Forgive the naff title 😜.

6 Swift and a couple of House Martin over the village this afternoon. Maybe our locals have arrived?

Alan reports Swifts over Papist Way.

A walk out to Lollingdon and back this morning and no jacket required in the warm sunshine.

A count of some of the songsters between the village and Lollingdon this morning with 15 singing Common Whitethroat, 2 Lesser Whitethroat, 11 Blackcap, 8 Chiffchaff, 10 Yellowhammer, 3 Corn Bunting and 2 Reed Bunting.

A Kestrel hunting over the hill and a few Swallow passing through.

Alan Dawson, Ian Lewington and Brian Wyatt were along the river today watching the Fritillaries and Clubtails. Also a Common Sandpiper, Cuckoo, Lesser Whitethroat and Willow Warbler.

A Raven reported on the border with Cholsey & Moulsford. Per MA.

A Yellow Wagtail over Wallingford road, Per TR.

Mammals: Brown Hare and Muntjac Deer.

Dragonflies: Banded Demoiselle, Large Red Damselfly, Common Clubtail and Broad-bodied Chaser.

Butterflies: Brimstone, Large White, Small White, Green-veined White, Orange Tip, Green Hairstreak, Holly Blue, Red Admiral, Small Tortoiseshell, Comma, Peacock, Marsh Fritillary and Speckled Wood. Per AD, BW & PC.

On a botanical note I noticed an Alexander (Horse Parsley, Smyrnium olusatrum.) growing out at Lollingdon. Have never noticed this plant locally before only down on the coast.
