Odds & Sods but no Hoopoe

Back to sunny days, 17°, light ENE.

A search for the Hoopoe this morning around the west end of Cholsey proved negative. Thanks to Geoff, Roger and Loren for looking.

A couple of Willow Warbler, a Whitethroat , several Blackcap, and a Goldcrest noted on the search by Loren and me.

Geoff relocated the Ring Ouzel that was still on the hill this morning but not seen by me this afternoon, also Whitethroat, Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Yellow Wagtail, a flyover Raven and a non flying Fieldfare.

Later I noted a Wheatear still present on the hill and 20+ Swallow and 1 Yellow Wagtail over, another Willow Warbler out at Lollingdon and several Blackcap also the 2 Yellow Wagtail frequenting the paddock and a Grey Heron flew over.

Several Swallow back at their breeding sites in and around the village now.

A Common Sandpiper along the river at Bow Bridge this morning (per Tony Williams).

2 Young Blackbird seen in the garden and young of Moorhen and Mallard on the brook.

Butterflies: Brimstone, Peacock, Small Tortoiseshell and Speckled Wood.

  1. Checked the riverside cow fields at Corwmarsh too - no Hoopoe. House Martin around the village this eve.
