Chiffchaffs & not a lot else.

Sunny, 17°, breezy E.

A very bright and breezy day and little evidence of any migration. Now highly unlikely of seeing any more summer migrants except Chiffchaffs, locally from now on.

In fact only Chiffchaff noted today, 8 in number on the hill with a Tit flock.

Coal Tit and Grey Wagtail in the garden.

Up to 10 Chiffchaff along the Thames from Cholsey Marsh to Bow Bridge. Also a few Swallow on Monday (per TW).

Dragonflies: Unidentified Hawker and several Common Darter.

Butterflies: Large White, Small White, 1 Red Admiral and several Speckled Wood.

  1. There's a dead mustelid (I think) on the Wallingford road just around the 30 mph limit at Cholsey. Didn't get a good look but think it might be a polecat. There's another roadkill polecat at Ewelme.

  2. Checked it again - definitely a Polecat, just outside the 30 mph sign leaving the village.
