Lollingdon, 19th Jan

Sunny, 2°, light southerly wind.

A visit to the hill this afternoon found good numbers of winter thrushes scattered around feeding in the fields, mainly Fieldfare c200 but also a fair number of Redwing c50. Approximately 50 Starling feeding on the hill and 1000+ Gulls visible in surrounding fields.

A Peregrine flew in from the south and passed over the hill before heading towards Aston Tirrold and a Sparrowhawk hunting along a hedgerow.

A few Tit flocks roaming the hedgerows, 3+ Yellowhammer and 2 Bullfinch also noted.

A ringed Great Tit in the garden recently........one of Richards?

  1. Probably! We've ringed about 40 tits in the garden this year (most recently over xmas). Although if ringed on the right leg it's mine, and if it's on the left it's the missus'. Blackcap's still playing hard to get, though. RB
