Painted Lady

Cloudy with a few sunny spells, 27º, muggy, light W.

A warm and humid day with many butterflies on the wing including our first Painted Lady of the year.

A walk around Lollingdon hill produced the usual bird species and a few Swift feeding overhead being of note.

Plenty of butterflies however with Small Tortoiseshell, Ringlet and Meadow Brown the most abundant, several Gatekeeper, Small Skipper and Small White, 2 Large White, 2 Marbled White, 1 Large Skipper, 2 Comma, 2 Red Admiral, 1 Peacock and finally 3 Painted Lady.

Also a couple of Azure Damselflies noted.
