The Day on the Sea (more Poms than Gannets).


Sunny, 15º, light SE.

As the land proved rather quiet today (see previous post) I spent a few hours at the Obs sea watching then several more down the Bill with the following noted.

120+ Common Scoter
1 Velvet Scoter
1 Bar-tailed Godwit
10 Whimbrel
5 Sanderling
1 Red-throated Diver
2 Great Northern Diver
100+ Manx Shearwater
1 Mediterranean Gull
1 Great Skua
3 Arctic Skua
40+ Pomarine Skua (15 past the bill and a flock of c25 seen towards Chesil Cove      briefly)
6 Sandwich Tern
180+ “commic” Tern with several specifically identified as:
Common Tern
Arctic Tern
14 Little Tern
4 Black Tern

Also Gannet, Fulmar, Shag, Cormorant, Kittiwake, Guillemot, Razorbill, Herring Gull, Great Blackback Gull.

 Pomarine Skua
  Great Skua (Bonxie)
  Arctic Skua
 Pomarine Skua
 Razorbill & Guillemot
 Whimbrel
 Common Scoter
 Manx Shearwater
 Northern Gannet
 Fulmar
 Martin & Joe on the seawatch
