Keep 'em Coming!

Cloudy, 14º, light W.

An overcast day today and feeling a little cooler and still birds arriving.

A couple of hours on the hill today found another Redstart this time a female. We had just pulled up to park in our usual spot when I heard a Redstart calling but as soon as I got out of the car the bird flew over my head and flew a fair distance down a hedgerow but I managed to see enough to confirm a Redstart.

The south face had 8 Wheatear and females outnumbered males today 4 to 1, also 2 Blackbird, 2 Mistle Thrush and a Meadow Pipit.

The north side and meadows were active with my first Common Whitethroat of the year, a singing Willow Warbler, 3 Chiffchaff, 3 Blackcap, both Green and Great-spotted Woodpeckers, Grey Heron, 2 Canada Geese, 5 Mallard, 2 Kestrel, 10 Linnet, up to 8 Yellowhammer and 4 Corn Bunting.

A flock of 16 Corn Bunting flew north over the hill which was a surprising record for this time of year!

4 Swallow also flew north over the hill, later we had up to 6 Swallow, 2 House Martin and at least 1 Sand Martin (another first for the year) in the air near Cholsey SF.

A singing Willow Warbler in the garden this morning for a short time before moving off across Church road, also a Chiffchaff and Blackcap and a pair of Goldcrest in a conifer nearby and 2 recently fledged Blackbird in the garden.
