Everyone's seen a Brimstone

Sunny, 15º, light NW, possibly the warmest day this year so far.

Brimstone butterfly in the garden this morning and another seen in the village later and judging by emails everyone has had their first butterfly of the year today! Could not get a photo as it was on the go all the time so have included an archive photo!

A flying visit to Lollingdon hill today proved rather fruitless with a few Skylark, 2 Linnet, a few Redwing and 3 Buzzard.

Had a report of some Tufted Duck at Cholsey SF so took a walk along the Bunk line to check but none noted, however a flock of around 100 Fieldfare and Redwing, c20 of each Meadow Pipit and Pied Wagtail, 2 Black-headed Gull, a pair of Linnet and a Great-spotted Woodpecker.

  1. I assume you know your archive photo is of a Clouded Yellow, sure you do but as you were on about Brimstones I thought it worth a mention.

  2. Still waiting for my first butterflies, been stuck at work this weekend, really annoyingly.
